Follow these tips from our team at Vanderhyde Ford in Cedar Springs, MI to safely change a flat tire. Once you've successfully hoisted your car, it's time to switch out that flat tire. Start by unscrewing the lug nuts with a lug wrench—but be sure to only loosen all of them instead of removing them entirely, otherwise, they could become fixed in place and tricky to remove.
Once all the lug nuts are free, lift your car just enough with a jack so that you can remove the flat tire. If it's too difficult to pull off, employ a crowbar or another tool for assistance. Carefully remove the deflated wheel and put it aside until you need to discard it.
After you've affixed your spare tire onto the wheel hub, ensure each lug nut hole is correctly aligned with its corresponding hub. Subsequently, use a wrench to tightly but not over-tighten the lug nuts. Lower your car back on its wheels and ensure all the lug nuts are securely fastened until they feel snug.
